Lawsuit against CUNY for failing to protect the public from a dangerous pro-Hamas encampment

“The protestors beat him for carrying an American flag.”

RAD is financially supporting Contarino Roth, LLC in litigation against the City University of New York (CUNY) for negligently enabling violence by a pro-Hamas mob. The claim initiating the case was filed in the New York Court of Claims on April 24, 2025.

Background

In April 2024, documentarian Ami Horowitz was attacked by radical terrorism supporters occupying an unlawful encampment at a CUNY campus. The protestors mobbed and beat him for carrying an American flag. CUNY negligently refused to take any action to stop the protestors or protect the public from the danger it knew they posed.

RAD and Contarino Roth, LLC seek justice against CUNY to hold it accountable for dangerously ceding control of a publicly-funded campus to violent Hamas supporters.

This litigation puts schools across the nation on notice that they will be held liable for failing to protect the public from pro-Hamas mobs on their campuses.
